7 effective home remedies to get rid of dandruff

Dandruff is a scalp condition that many suffer from albeit silently. It dictates what you wear and how self-conscious you are throughout the day because it’s characterized by visible flakes that settle on your hair or clothes.
There are different underlying causes of dandruff including fungal growth. Other lifestyle habits like poor dieting choices can aggravate the dandruff on your scalp so you definitely need to check that.

Good news is, dandruff is a treatable condition. You can simply get into a routine and have all those embarrassing flakes disappear forever. Yes, forever!

These home remedies could be the perfect dandruff solution you’re looking for:

1. Lemon juice
Lemon juice is a best known treatment to get rid of dandruff, massage the juice on your scalp and leave it on for 15-20 minutes. Wash your hair as usual.

2. Rosemary
Combine rosemary oil with vinegar and apply it to your scalp for 15-20 minutes. Wash off as usual. It is very effective for dandruff treatment when used in combination with vinegar.

3. Fenugreek
Crush soaked fenugreek seeds into a fine paste. The seeds should be soaked overnight in water. Apply the paste to your scalp for 30 minutes and wash off. Apart from treating dandruff, it also provides a cooling effect on your scalp.

4. Apple cider Vinegar
Mix the apple cider vinegar with water in equal proportions and spritz it onto your scalp using a spray bottle. Wrap your head in a towel for 15 minutes and wash your hair as usual. This can be repeated twice a week. Acidity in ACV makes it hard for yeast to grow, thereby, keeping dandruff at bay.

5. Green tea
Boil the green tea leaves in a pan for about 15 minutes. Strain the mixture and let it cool. Apply to your scalp and leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse well. Alternately, you could also use green tea bags to make the concoction. The anti-fungal and antioxidants present in the tea will help restore scalp health.

6. Aspirin
Crush two tablets of aspirin and mix with your shampoo whenever you wash your hair. Follow it up with a wash suing plain shampoo to get all the medicine out of your hair. It contains Salicylic acid, which is a common ingredient in most anti dandruff shampoos and very effective in treating dandruff.

7. Yoghurt mask
Simply take a few scoops of the yoghurt and massage on a clean scalp. Let it sit for half an hour then rinse with warm water. Yogurt has natural antifungal properties to deal with the dandruff as well as soothing properties to ease the itchiness. You’ll have smooth, conditioned and dandruff free hair after a couple of treatments.
